The Basilica includes the Upper Church, the Lower Church, and the crypt in neo Romanesque style where from the 1818 there is the tomb St. Francis.
The Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli whose interiors preserve the Porziuncola.
The Porziuncola, a stone chapel restored by St. Francis himself and where he understood his vocation, is considered the most sacred place for the Franciscans.
Continue toward Cortona, ancient town dating back to Etruscans and Romans times, to explore the town in independent way. Cortona has become very popular with the book and the film “Under the Tuscan Sun”.
Strolling at your own pace through the narrows medieval streets, with artisan shops, ceramics and linen broderies climb up to the center to reach the Piazza della Repubblica and the nearby Piazza Signorelli where there is an Etruscans Museum.
